Job description

Yamaha is seeking to fill a Warehouse Load Planner role for our facility in Lakeview, WI. The position is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments to ensure efficient, timely, and compliant movement of finished goods. This role works closely with Warehouse Operations, Transportation, Imports, and freight carriers to support daily shipping activities, optimize load planning, maintain accurate system transactions, and ensure customer delivery requirements are met. The position requires knowledge of transportation and warehouse processes, transportation management systems (TMS), and shipping documentation. The Transportation Coordinator assists in load planning, carrier communication, shipment tracking, and operational problem-solving while supporting safety, service, and cost objectives.

What you'll be doing:

Transportation Planning & Execution:

  • Develop and optimize outbound and inbound transportation plans utilizing Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and available transportation resources. Build efficient and cost-effective loads based on customer requirements, delivery schedules, product characteristics, weight restrictions, and transportation constraints. Maximize equipment utilization while maintaining required service levels and delivery commitments. Coordinate daily shipping schedules and transportation activities with warehouse, transportation, import, and customer service teams. Monitor shipment execution and proactively resolve transportation exceptions, delays, and service disruptions.

Carrier & Logistic Management:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for freight carriers, drivers, brokers, and third-party logistics providers. Coordinate shipment appointments, pickups, deliveries, and routing requirements.
    Support carrier performance management through monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of service metrics. Assist in strengthening carrier partnerships by identifying performance trends and improvement opportunities. Collaborate with transportation leadership to support freight optimization and routing strategies.

Warehouse & Inventory Coordination:

  • Partner closely with warehouse operations to ensure timely execution of inbound receipts and outbound shipments. Provide daily work schedules, load sheets, shipment priorities, and transportation updates to warehouse personnel. Communicate order modifications, shipment changes, cancellations, and operational priorities. Direct drivers to appropriate loading and unloading areas and support dock scheduling activities. Process inventory transfers, shipment confirmations, receipts, and related warehouse transactions within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).

System & Operational support:

  • Maintain accurate transportation, shipment, and inventory data within TMS, WMS, ERP, and related systems. Troubleshoot transportation and system-related issues that impact shipping performance or operational efficiency. Ensure customer requirements, routing instructions, and transportation data are entered accurately and maintained within operational systems.
    Generate reports and provide operational analysis supporting transportation and warehouse performance objectives.

Compliance, Documentation & Safety:

  • Prepare, review, and maintain transportation documentation including Bills of Lading (BOL), load manifests, hazardous materials documentation, and shipping records. Ensure all transportation activities comply with DOT regulations, hazardous materials requirements, company policies, and customer specifications. Support hazardous material shipping processes and maintain certification requirements as applicable. Promote and support a culture of safety by adhering to transportation and warehouse safety protocols.

Performing Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor key transportation metrics including on-time delivery performance, carrier service levels, aging reports, transportation costs, and shipment quality. Analyze operational data to identify trends, service gaps, and improvement opportunities. Recommend process enhancements that improve service, efficiency, compliance, and cost management. Escalate operational risks and service concerns while providing recommendations for corrective actions. Participate in cross-functional initiatives that support supply chain and demand chain performance objectives.

What you need to be successful:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
  • 10-14 years of experience in general transportation, logistics, warehouse operations, supply chain, or related operational support environments.
  • 4-6 years of Transportation/logistic Planning.
  • Experience coordinating transportation activities, shipment execution, and logistics operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other business applications.
