Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND OVERVIEW

Works Probiotics is a Phoenix startup launching its first product, Works for Glucose Wellness, on September 1, 2026. We are three PhD scientists, our CEO runs all marketing personally, and this is our first marketing hire. You will join in the first weeks after launch and work directly with the CEO to run our Instagram and LinkedIn channels, support outreach to healthcare practitioners, send email campaigns, and track what is working.

What you get: real ownership of live channels from week one, a weekly one-on-one with the CEO, a portfolio of published work you can show, hands-on training in how a regulated consumer brand markets honestly, and a role that may qualify for MKT 484 credit.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of the internship you will be able to:

1. Plan and execute a compliant content calendar for Instagram and LinkedIn, from brief to scheduled post, applying our pre-publish checklist to every piece.

2. Build and interpret a weekly marketing KPI tracker (subscribers, site sessions, follower growth, email performance, cost per acquisition) and turn it into a one-page Friday update with a recommendation.

3. Draft, test, and evaluate lifecycle email in Klaviyo, stating a hypothesis before each test and reporting the result.

4. Support a B2B practitioner channel: maintain the outreach tracker, prepare sell-sheet mailings and samples, and draft follow-ups for approval.

5. Help design, run, and write up one small paid-social test within a set budget, with a clear stop rule.

6. Apply FTC and FDA structure/function rules to dietary-supplement copy and catch problems in draft copy before it ships.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Schedule, caption, and hashtag posts on @worksprobiotics and our LinkedIn page.

- Support Reels and carousel production using brand templates.

- Run the pre-publish compliance checklist on every post and email.

- Keep the practitioner outreach tracker current; prepare mailings and sample shipments.

- Build and send Klaviyo flows and campaigns from approved copy.

- Build and maintain the KPI tracker; write the Friday readout.

- Help design and write up one supervised paid-social test (the CEO runs all ad spend).

- Research competitor pricing, positioning, and channels.

- Administrative tasks (shipping labels, filing, spreadsheet cleanup) stay under 20% of hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Current ASU undergraduate (junior or senior) in Marketing, Business, or a related field.

- Clear, concise writer who takes feedback well.

- Comfortable creating short-form content on Instagram; familiar with LinkedIn company pages.

- Organized and reliable, with about 10 hours per week available around classes.

- Able to spend one day per week in person in downtown Phoenix.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Canva, CapCut, or similar tools for Reels and carousels.

- Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or another email platform.

- Coursework in digital marketing, consumer behavior, or analytics.

- Interest in health, science, or wellness brands.

START AND END DATE

Rolling start, targeting late September or early October 2026. The internship runs 12 to 16 weeks and totals at least 120 hours. Hours flex around exams; Thanksgiving week and winter break are off. A late-September start at about 10 hours per week finishes in mid-January 2027. A January 2027 start (for students planning Spring 2027 course credit) finishes by late April 2027. We set the exact schedule with you in week one.

HOURS PER WEEK

About 10 hours per week, flexible around your class schedule.

PAID OR UNPAID

Paid: $15.15 to $16.00 per hour, based on experience.

LOCATION AND LOGISTICS

Hybrid, mostly remote. One in-person block (3 to 4 hours) per week at the Phoenix Bioscience Core, 850 N 5th St, Suite 504, Phoenix, AZ 85004. We provide the software accounts you need: Klaviyo, Meta Business Suite for scheduling, the LinkedIn company page, Shopify analytics (view only), and the shared brand drive.

SUPERVISOR AND MENTORSHIP

Paniz Jasbi, PhD, Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Jasbi built the Works brand voice, compliance rulebook, launch content calendar, email program, website copy, and practitioner outreach program ahead of the September 1, 2026 launch, and runs every channel personally. Dr. Jasbi co-founded Theriome, a separate systems-biology company, in 2022 and serves as its Chief Science Officer. You will meet with Dr. Jasbi weekly for planning, feedback, and mentorship, and Dr. Jasbi will complete the supervisor evaluation required for course credit.

ACADEMIC CREDIT (MKT 484)

This internship may be eligible for marketing course credit (MKT 484). Please visit Marketing Internships for more information on how you can earn 3 upper division marketing elective credits.

Credit decisions rest with the Department of Marketing and your academic advisor. MKT 484 requires department approval before you begin work and before the semester add date, so students seeking credit will usually plan a January 2027 start for Spring 2027 credit. Students who want the paid role without credit can start this fall.

ABOUT WORKS PROBIOTICS

Works Probiotics (MetaBiotics LLC, dba Works Probiotics) is a precision-probiotics company in Phoenix, Arizona. Our first product, Works for Glucose Wellness, is a daily probiotic capsule with three GRAS strains (L. rhamnosus, L. reuteri, L. salivarius) at 10 billion CFU per capsule, vegan and non-GMO. The strains were selected through AI-driven in vitro screening from 12 candidates, and the formulation was developed from Arizona State University research. A published preclinical (animal) study describes that research (Chi J, et al., Metabolites 2025); in the interest of transparency, our CEO is a co-author on that study and MetaBiotics LLC appears among the author affiliations. A human study is in design.

The founding team is Paniz Jasbi, PhD (Chief Executive Officer), Haiwei Gu, PhD (Chief Science Officer and ASU professor), and Alex Mohr, PhD (Chief Product Officer). Works sells direct to consumers as a $50 per month subscription at worksprobiotics.com and offers a wholesale program for healthcare practitioners. Our tagline: "Just what works."

HOW TO APPLY

Apply through ASU CareerLink with a resume and either a 3 to 5 sentence note on why this role interests you or a link to something you made (a Reel, carousel, campaign, or account you run). If you are seeking MKT 484 credit, say so. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, we acknowledge every one, and shortlisted candidates get a 20-minute video call with the CEO. Questions: support@worksprobiotics.com.
