About the Role:

As a millworks CAD drafter, you will play a crucial role in creating elaborate themed custom millwork drawings and plans used in various theme park settings. Working with a team of engineers and architects your attention to detail and precision will be paramount from design into detailed schematics.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Proficiency in CAD Software (AutoCAD, Revit, or Rhino)

• Understanding of Materials and Manufacturing Processes in millworks

• High level of attention to detail

• Accuracy in drawing

Responsibilities:

1. Precision in Detailing

Every measurement, angle, and dimension needs to be meticulously planned, as even slight errors can affect the fit or overall effect. This means you need to be both a perfectionist and a creative thinker, figuring out how to turn an idea into a feasible, buildable plan.

2. Collaboration

The designs you create are part of a larger vision. Working with architects, engineers, and designers, you’ll need to communicate effectively to translate conceptual sketches into technical drawings that can be used by fabricators and construction teams.

3. Material Knowledge

Understanding the properties of materials—whether it's wood, foam, composites, or metal—will guide your design choices, ensuring that everything from weight-bearing elements to aesthetics are carefully considered.

4. Construction and Fabrication Techniques

You’ll need to design with manufacturing processes in mind—whether that’s CNC routing, traditional woodworking, or casting. Understanding these techniques helps ensure the designs are not only feasible but efficient to produce.

5. Theme Integration

Custom millwork in theme parks doesn’t just serve a functional purpose, it’s part of storytelling. You’ll work on crafting environments that feel magical, eerie, futuristic, or nostalgic. The materials and craftsmanship must align with the desired mood of the space.
