Volstead's Emporium

Volstead’s is seeking a new Head Chef who is available to begin work immediately.

Our kitchen operation is small but mighty. The ideal candidate has experience running a scratch kitchen independently—from prep through service—as well as experience in casual fine dining. We’re looking for someone who works well under pressure, values clear communication, takes ownership of their work, and is genuinely proud of what they put on the plate.

Because our kitchen is intentionally small and can accommodate, at most, one Line Cook in addition to the Head Chef, the Head Chef is expected and required to work service hours. This is a hands-on kitchen position. On most days, the kitchen should be managed by one person, with the support of a Line Cook on busier nights and weekends. This role is best suited for a self-motivated chef who is comfortable wearing every hat in a small kitchen, can maintain high standards while working independently, and enjoys being directly involved in both the preparation and execution of service.

• 
  Overseeing all kitchen operations and food preparation
• Planning and developing menus, including seasonal updates and specials
• Ordering from vendors and sourcing ingredients and materials
• Managing food and labor costs with an emphasis on efficiency and economic operation
• Leading and training menu knowledge
• Maintaining food quality, consistency, and safety standards
• Collaborating with ownership and management on menu development and operational improvements
