The Data Manager II will play a critical role in supporting the data management needs of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) and partner organizations. This position is responsible for performing advanced data queries, ensuring data integrity and consistency across multiple government systems, and supporting the integration and reporting of complex data sets. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in SQL and experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau and/or Power BI for data visualization. Ability to deliver data insights, support informed decision-making for quality control, and maintain reliable datasets. The Data Manager II will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, provide mentorship to junior staff, and contribute to the development, maintenance, and enforcement of data management and/or governance policies and procedures. Must have the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks, respond to high-priority requests quickly, and work independently to research data-related anomalies and provide input and recommendations to the database configuration control board.
Specific Duties Include:
· Track, monitor, and confirm data deliverables from different organizations.
· Coordinate, quality control, correct, and format imports and exports of electronic data.
· Document data management procedures, develop policies and practices.
· Work with finance and other stakeholders to verify data on documents produced for publications.
· Provide end-user support for various functional and data-related questions.
· Define the data elements shared across external organizations and the relationships between those data elements and processes, people, systems, and the impact on the data model.
· Provide ad hoc project support, which includes data mining from external sources.
· Reconcile data between the system database and the organization's website.
· Reconcile data for external databases.
· Review ad hoc reports for accuracy.
· Recommend policies to account for and report all award data.
· Provide support for daily processing of technical report reviews and award documents.
· Perform quality control review of award documents.
· Communicate with scientific and administrative staff.
Required Qualifications:
· US Citizen
· Five years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, and SQL reporting.
· Advanced knowledge of SQL for data mining, data management, and reporting.
· Experience creating dashboards and reports using Tableau.
· Able to pass a DoD T2 Background Investigation.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
· US Department of Defense Common Access Card.
· Recently completed DoD Background Investigation.
· Within Commuting Distance to Fort Detrick, Maryland.
