Key Responsibilities

You will play a vital role in the psychosocial assessment and support of students. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify emotional, social, and financial needs of students and their families.
  • Providing individual and group counseling that focuses on adjustments, grief, coping strategies, and behavioral concerns.
  • Collaborating closely with educators, healthcare providers, and community organizations to arrange necessary support services post-discharge.
  • Developing and implementing effective treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Participating in interdisciplinary meetings to contribute insights that enhance student care and foster academic success.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely documentation in compliance with both hospital policies and legal standards.
  • Offering crisis intervention and emotional support during challenging situations, ensuring safety and stability for at-risk students.
  • Engaging actively in professional development opportunities and contributing to the continuous improvement initiatives within our department.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will primarily focus on students within the school setting, many of whom may experience challenges related to mental health, family dynamics, or economic barriers. You will be instrumental in advocating for their needs and providing resources that empower them to overcome obstacles and thrive both academically and socially.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • An active state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of mental health disorders, family systems, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that facilitate effective collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following experiences are preferred:

  • At least two years of experience in a healthcare or school setting, providing psychosocial support and intervention.
  • Familiarity with educational systems and resources available to students and families.
