Job description

Role Summary

Urban Outfitters, Inc. (URBN) is seeking an empathetic, human-centered Product Designer to join our User Experience team, part of URBN's centralized Digital Product organization. Digital Product is tightly aligned with URBN's brands and IT organization, and spans user experience, product management, testing and analysis, digital strategy, and program management. The Product Designer will be responsible for designing class-leading solutions for digital products, consisting of responsive websites, native mobile applications, and internal business tools used across URBN's brands.

Role Responsibilities
  • Design - define the information architecture, interaction patterns, and visual design for web, native mobile apps, and internal tools, ensuring solutions are useful, usable, accessible, and engaging
  • Ideate - lead workshops, critiques, and rapid concepting sessions with cross-functional partners
  • Simplify - turn complex business, technical, and brand problems into simple, elegant user experiences
  • Strategize - partner with product management to shape product strategy and roadmap priorities
  • Align - collaborate across brand, business, and technical stakeholders to reconcile competing priorities and keep decisions grounded in user and business outcomes
  • Research - use qualitative and quantitative research, and analytics to inform and validate design decisions
  • Facilitate development - ensure seamless integration of design through the Agile lifecycle, from requirements through release, so design intent survives implementation
  • Measure - define success metrics and use data to evaluate design performance and inform iteration
  • Inspire, educate, and collaborate - champion UX practice and strategy, and help grow design fluency across the enterprise
Role Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience designing responsive web and native mobile product experiences, from concept through release
  • Foundational understanding of web and mobile app technologies
  • Skilled in producing user flows, wireframes, and prototypes, with fluency in the tools used to create them (e.g., Figma)
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practice
  • Comfort using AI tools in the design process (e.g., concepting, prototyping, synthesizing research, etc.)
  • Ability to lead stakeholder workshops, design critiques, and design reviews
  • Proven ability to communicate design rationale clearly, in language suited to design and non-design audiences alike
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple concurrent projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal education or training in UX/product design, interaction design, human-computer interaction, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in e-commerce or digital retail
  • Experience working in Agile, embedded in a cross-functional team of designers, product managers, and engineers
  • Experience creating or maintaining a design system
  • Experience conducting or partnering closely with user research
  • Experience contributing to design strategy for a product area, including influencing roadmap and requirements
  • Experience mentoring or providing design direction to peers
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and competing priorities across multiple brands or business units
