CNC Programmer Applications Manager

UPI Manufacturing is an award-winning defense manufacturer located in Eagle, Wisconsin, producing precision components and assemblies that support U.S. military vehicles and the American warfighter.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on CNC Programmer Applications Manager for our high-mix, low-volume machine shop.

If you enjoy programming challenging parts, developing machining processes, and solving new problems rather than running repetitive production, this may be the position for you.

Our clean, organized shop features late-model VMCs, HMCs, CNC Turning Centers with live tooling, automated saws, and conventional machining equipment.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC lathes, vertical mills, and horizontal mills using Mastercam.
• Work from SolidWorks models, CAD files, blueprints, and GD&T.
• Develop machining strategies, tooling, fixturing, and workholding for new parts.
• Work with machinists during setup, prove-out, and first-article runs.
• Improve programs for cycle time, quality, tool life, and reliability.
• Occasionally operate CNC equipment for prove-out or troubleshooting.
• Work with Operations to develop efficient manufacturing cells and workflows.
• Maintain organized programs and process documentation.
• Assist Sales with machining estimates and quoting.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of CNC programming and setup experience preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Mastercam and/or GibbsCAM.
• Experience with SolidWorks and 3D CAD models.
• Excellent understanding of tooling, workholding, fixturing, feeds, and speeds.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a high-mix environment.
• Hands-on attitude and willingness to work closely with machinists.
• Strong desire to collaborate with and contribute to the UPI team.
