The role involves interpreting a full range of general diagnostic imaging modality exams including MRI, CT, Ultrasound, plain film, fluoroscopy, mammography, and nuclear scintigraphy.
The responsibilities include evaluating imaging test results for diagnosis, patient care, research, and education.
Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team consisting of direct and indirect patient care professionals such as diagnostic imaging staff, x-ray technicians, laboratory staff, and referring clinical team and providers is required.
The role also involves overseeing the development and evolution of imaging service protocols, technologists, service practices, and interdisciplinary communication/interaction with Clinical Services to achieve best practice standards and patient care.
Assisting with the formulation of plans and procedures for assigned services and coordinating radiological services with other medical activities is part of the duties.
Advising on radiological supplies and equipment, the capability of available resources, and future needs is also required.
Providing technical and scientific oversight of scientific staff is part of the responsibilities.
Directing supporting employees during the performance of scheduled or emergency care procedures such as biopsies and abscess drainages is included.
