Role Description The Associate Lawyer will primarily operate within the firm's litigation division while also managing solicitor work. On the litigation side, the lawyer will provide representation across a dynamic mix of civil and commercial disputes, as well as family law matters. Responsibilities include assessing legal issues, drafting pleadings and commercial agreements, conducting legal research, and attending court appearances, mediations, and arbitrations. This role is ideal for a highly motivated self-starter looking to build a robust practice. Mentorship is a priority; on many complex files, the associate will collaborate directly alongside senior counsel or a partner. This is a full-time, on-site role located at our office in Langley, BC.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in British Columbia with 1+ years of experience in civil/commercial litigation, solicitor work, and/or family law.
• Self-starter eager to build a practice, supported by active mentorship and collaborative work with senior partners.
• Strong advocacy, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.
• Excellent research and drafting abilities for pleadings, corporate agreements, and legal opinions.
• Comfort with chambers appearances and procedural applications in the Supreme Court and Provincial Court.
• Effective file and time management, attention to detail, and independent work capabilities.
• Professional judgment, ethical practice, and commitment to respectful client service.
• Familiarity with relevant BC statutes and rules (e.g., Supreme Court Civil and Family Rules, Family Law Act).
• Proficiency with legal practice management software and standard office technology.
• Understanding of the ethical use of artificial intelligence in legal practice, including its limitations and strict compliance with Law Society rules.
• Fluency in English is required; additional languages (Persian, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, or Tagalog) are strong assets.

Compensation Compensation is based on a highly competitive 50/50 fee split model, designed to reward your direct contributions and practice growth. Please note that any posted salary range is for reference only.
