Job description


Our office is looking for a skilled and committed medical biller to join our team. As the medical biller, you will be responsible for analyzing data, evaluating information, and making sound decisions. Your daily tasks will include managing billing software, appealing denied claims, and tracking late payments. To excel in this role, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of billing software and medical insurance policies.

Additionally, strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as communicating with patients and insurance representatives will be a significant aspect of the role. Medical Biller Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and submitting billing data and medical claims to insurance companies

  • Ensuring patient medical information is accurate and up to date

  • Preparing bills and invoices and documenting amounts due for medical procedures and services

  • Collecting and reviewing referrals and pre-authorizations

  • Monitoring and recording late payments

  • Following up on missed payments and resolving financial discrepancies

  • Examining patient bills for accuracy and requesting missing information as needed

  • Investigating and appealing denied claims

  • Assisting patients with setting up payment plans

  • Maintaining billing software by updating rate changes, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports

Medical Biller Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is not required (a degree in business, healthcare administration, accounting, or a related field is a plus)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a medical biller or in a similar role

  • Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records

  • Rheumatology, oncology, or infusion billing experience is helpful but not required

  • NextGen system knowledge is a plus

  • eClinicalWorks experience is a plus.

  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a remote environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
