Job description

Mission: To narrow the education gap for at-risk and under-served children; and to prepare and motivate these young people to pursue a post-high school education through proven teaching, tutoring, and learning experiences.

Summary

The Executive Director will serve as the chief leader and advocate of The Daniel Center, responsible for advancing its mission to support at-risk and under-served youth. This role involves strategic vision, operational management, fundraising, program and curriculum development, student enrollment oversight, and community engagement to ensure that children receive quality educational opportunities and support to pursue further education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies that advance The Daniel Center’s mission and goals.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with schools, community organizations, community leaders and other stakeholders to expand impact.
  • Represent The Daniel Center in the community and advocate for educational equity for at-risk and under-served children.
  • Evaluate and enhance teaching, tutoring, and learning programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with mission.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of at-risk and under-served students.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor relations, and special events to secure financial resources.
  • Manage student enrollment processes, including outreach, recruitment, and retention strategies to grow participation and support individual student success.
  • Oversee daily operations, including staff supervision, program management, and budget administration.
  • Report to the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on progress, finances, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in education, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in nonprofit leadership, education, or youth development.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, program administration, and staff management.
  • Demonstrated passion for educational equity and commitment to supporting at-risk youth.
  • Experience in curriculum development and oversight of student enrollment processes is highly desirable.
  • Very strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are a must.
