Job description

IT Manager - On-site (Tulsa, OK)

Salary Range: $75,000-$120,000 DOE

Tech Partners is partnering with a well-established, multi-office professional services organization to identify an IT Manager who can step into a high-impact leadership role and help guide the next phase of their technology evolution.

This position is on-site in Tulsa, OK, and replaces a long-tenured IT leader. The client is looking for a business-savvy, forward-thinking IT professional who can own the technology environment end to end while helping move the organization beyond where it is today.

The ideal candidate brings a progressive technical mindset and a natural drive toward modernization. This person should be comfortable supporting the current environment, but also energized by leading the company further into areas like cloud modernization, Microsoft Intune, cybersecurity, automation, AI adoption, and more scalable technology practices.

What This Role Is Really About

This is not a pure keep-the-lights-on IT role. The client wants someone who can help lead the organization into its next chapter.

They are looking for:

  • A forward-looking IT leader who can build and execute a technology roadmap aligned with business goals, risk priorities, and future-state modernization.
  • A hands-on technical expert who understands the Azure and Microsoft 365 ecosystem and can help advance cloud, identity, endpoint, and security capabilities.
  • A modernization-minded problem solver who naturally looks for better ways to operate, automate, secure, and scale the environment.
  • An internal owner of cybersecurity who can guide policy, risk management, remediation, incident response, and vendor coordination.
  • A business-facing communicator who can clearly explain IT decisions, risks, investments, and tradeoffs to executive leadership.
  • A team leader who can mentor and elevate a small IT team while driving accountability, service quality, and continuous improvement.

The environment supports approximately 250 users across five locations, with a mix of in-office and hybrid employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own overall IT strategy, infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, and day-to-day operations.
  • Build and maintain a forward-looking technology roadmap aligned to business priorities, risk reduction, modernization, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and develop a small internal IT team, including Help Desk resources in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
  • Oversee Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, identity, access, and cloud services.
  • Help advance cloud modernization efforts and evaluate opportunities to improve scalability, security, and manageability.
  • Improve endpoint management practices, including Microsoft Intune, device compliance, patching, configuration, and lifecycle management.
  • Support hybrid work through secure remote access, VPN, identity controls, and modern workplace tools.
  • Serve as the internal owner of cybersecurity efforts, including policies, risk management, access controls, incident response, and remediation planning.
  • Coordinate with an external cybersecurity partner, including penetration testing, findings review, and remediation follow-through.
  • Manage vendors across cloud, connectivity, cybersecurity, telephony, and other business-critical systems.
  • Oversee IT hardware lifecycle, including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, peripherals, and related asset management.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes, streamline workflows, improve reporting, and reduce manual administrative work.
  • Explore practical AI-driven solutions, including Microsoft Copilot, AI agents, intelligent automation, and other tools that create real business value.
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure technology decisions support business growth, security, productivity, and long-term scalability.
What They're Looking For Must Have
  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership or ownership of an IT environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with identity, access management, cloud services, endpoint management, and modern workplace technologies.
  • Broad infrastructure, networking, systems, and support knowledge.
  • Demonstrated cybersecurity ownership beyond basic vendor coordination.
  • Experience supporting multi-location and hybrid users.
  • Ability to develop and execute an IT roadmap that balances current operational needs with future-state modernization.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with executives, vendors, technical staff, and end users.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Defender, Entra ID, or related Microsoft security and endpoint tools.
  • Experience leading cloud modernization, migration, or optimization initiatives.
  • Experience with automation tools such as PowerShell, Power Automate, scripting, workflow automation, or AI-assisted productivity tools.
  • Experience building, managing, or evaluating AI agents, Copilot use cases, or intelligent automation solutions.
  • Background in professional services, insurance, financial services, or other regulated environments.
  • Relevant Microsoft, Azure, security, networking, or IT leadership certifications.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • High visibility and influence with executive leadership.
  • Opportunity to modernize and shape IT after a 20+ year leadership transition.
  • Ability to move the organization forward in cloud, security, automation, endpoint management, and AI adoption.
  • Balance of strategic ownership and hands-on technical involvement.
  • Stable organization investing intentionally in technology, security, and operational improvement.

If you are an IT leader who enjoys owning the environment, influencing strategy, modernizing systems, and being the go-to technology partner for the business, this is worth a conversation.
