Position: Cyber Security Engineer

Location: Cary, NC (Hybrid)

Duration: 6+ Month Contract

Overview

Our client is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join their Information Security team responsible for protecting critical systems, infrastructure, and data across global platforms. This role focuses on security operations, network security, cloud security, identity management, and incident prevention while working closely with cybersecurity engineers, IT teams, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage enterprise security infrastructure and security operations activities.
  • Support and optimize next-generation firewall (NGFW) environments and network security controls.
  • Assist with Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technologies including ZTNA, CASB, and secure web gateways.
  • Manage security configuration changes and support security incident prevention and remediation efforts.
  • Work with Identity & Access Management (IAM) solutions, authentication, authorization, and privilege management processes.
  • Leverage Microsoft security technologies including Defender for Endpoint, Azure Sentinel, and Entra ID/Azure Active Directory.
  • Develop and maintain security procedures, policies, and operational processes aligned with industry best practices.
  • Analyze security risks, recommend remediation strategies, and improve overall security posture.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, networking, and application teams to implement secure solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Cybersecurity Engineering, Security Operations, Network Security, Cloud Security, SIEM, or Insider Risk Management.
  • Hands-on experience with security technologies such as:
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • Okta
  • Duo
  • Palo Alto
  • Fortinet
  • Zscaler
  • Microsoft Defender
  • OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure)
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  • Firewall Technologies
  • Cloud Security
  • Security Information & Event Management (SIEM)
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with automation and scripting tools such as:
  • Python
  • PowerShell
  • Ansible
  • KQL (Kusto Query Language)
  • Experience supporting cloud and hybrid enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and security best practices.
