Mid PIV Support Specialist
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Mid PIV Support Specialist to support FAA Personnel Security operations and credentialing services. This role is responsible for identity verification, PIV card issuance, applicant processing, and maintaining compliance with federal security standards and FAA requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with PIV provisioning systems, identity management processes, and customer-facing security operations in high-security environments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience
- At least 1 year of PIV card diagnostics experience
Key Responsibilities
Identity Verification & Applicant Processing
- Conduct identity proofing by verifying and documenting acceptable identity source documents
- Review DOT Form 1681 for accuracy and authorized FAA sponsor signatures
- Attach completed Form I-9 documentation when applicable
- Fingerprint and photograph applicants as required
- Collect investigative forms and provide documentation to registrars
- Enter and maintain applicant information within IMS or CMS identification media systems
PIV Card Issuance & Support
- Validate registrar authorization prior to issuing PIV cards
- Issue identification cards in accordance with FAA-approved procedures, including remote badge processing
- Notify applicants when credentials are ready for pickup
- Verify applicant identity using biometric fingerprint authentication prior to credential release
- Educate applicants on safeguarding credentials and reporting lost or stolen IDs
- File and/or scan DOT Form 1681 documentation
Operational Support
- Provide assistance to Personnel Security Specialists as needed
- Support FAA regional facilities during PIV rollout initiatives when directed by Division Management
- Maintain strict adherence to FAA security protocols and operational procedures
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience working with PIV provisioning software
- Strong knowledge of PIV card diagnostics (required)
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook)
- Web-based applications and computer systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution abilities
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting agency and customer deadlines
Personnel Security Requirements
Due to the sensitive nature of the work, all contractor positions are designated as high-risk positions.
Selected candidates must be willing to undergo an FAA background investigation and complete the following forms:
- SF-85P - Questionnaire for Public Trust
- FD-258 - FBI Fingerprint Card
- DOT Form 1631 - Disclosure and Authorization Pertaining to Consumer Reports Pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act
Personnel supporting classified ASH functions or facilities may also be required to complete:
- SF-86 - National Security Clearance Documentation
