Business Applications Consultant

Syscon, Inc. is looking for a Business Applications Consultant who can help clients better understand their data, improve reporting and workflows, and get more value from the technology they use. Many of our clients are construction companies, so experience supporting construction businesses is highly valuable.

This is a client-facing consulting role focused on reporting, automation, business applications, process improvement, and emerging technology. AI is becoming an increasingly important part of how we serve clients, so we are looking for someone who is curious, learns quickly, and can turn new tools into practical business value.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Partner directly with clients to understand business challenges and improve processes, reporting, workflows, and technology adoption
• Build Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions that help clients better understand their business
• Create workflow automations using Microsoft Power Platform tools
• Identify practical opportunities to use AI-enabled tools and automation to improve client operations
• Deploy reports and business solutions within Sage 100 Contractor and Acumatica
• Support Syscon's custom-built business applications
• Train and support end users through implementations and ongoing consulting
• Translate business needs into clear reporting, workflow, and application requirements
• Troubleshoot application, reporting, workflow, and data-related issues
• Collaborate with developers, consultants, and other Syscon team members to deliver complete business solutions
• Document client requirements, workflows, procedures, and recommendations
• Manage multiple client priorities while providing clear communication, follow-through, and timely resolution
• Continuously build your knowledge and share what you learn with clients and the Syscon team

WHAT YOU BRING

Required

• At least three years of experience supporting business applications, ERP systems, reporting, business intelligence, automation, or technology consulting
• Hands-on experience personally creating Microsoft Power BI reports or dashboards
• Experience with Microsoft Power Automate or comparable workflow automation tools
• Working knowledge of SQL and SQL Server
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience working directly with business users or clients to understand business needs, data, reporting, or workflow challenges
• Experience training or supporting end users on business applications, reporting, workflows, or technology tools
• Ability to translate business needs into practical reporting, workflow, or technology improvements
• Ability to independently research, test, and apply new tools and technology
• Comfort working through ambiguity, asking good questions, and moving work forward without needing every step defined
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and client service skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of commitments
• Curiosity about AI and emerging technology, along with a willingness to continually build your knowledge
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Accounting, MIS, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

• Recent experience supporting specialty contractors, service contractors, general contractors, or other construction businesses
• MSP or technology consulting experience
• Microsoft Power Apps
• SharePoint
• Microsoft Copilot or other AI-enabled business tools
• Sage 100 Contractor
• Acumatica
• ERP reporting and workflow solutions
• Experience working with APIs, integrations, or data connections

ABOUT THE PLATFORMS

This role works heavily with Microsoft business tools, reporting, workflow automation, ERP systems, and emerging AI-enabled solutions. Power BI and Power Automate are important tools in this role, with Power Apps, SharePoint, SQL Server, Microsoft Copilot, Sage 100 Contractor, and Acumatica also part of the environment.

We do not expect deep expertise in every platform. However, hands-on experience personally creating Power BI reports or dashboards is a core requirement for this role and is not intended to be learned from scratch after hire. For the other platforms in our environment, we expect a solid technology foundation, experience applying technology to real business needs, and the ability to learn new applications quickly.
