Job Title: Summer Advantage Student Assistant
Department: Summer Advantage
Supervisor: Taylor Gonzales and Matt Wells
Starting Rate of Pay: $10.00
Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis

Summer Advantage is High Point University's nationally-recognized pre-freshman year advancement program, offering new students the opportunity to get ahead and stay ahead, academically and socially.
As a student employee, you'll get hands-on experience marketing and managing Summer Advantage, utilizing skills in everything from social media to event planning to client services and more.
Job Description
Work both behind the scenes and in front of students, parents and staff representing Summer Advantage virtually and personally. You'll use your skills in organization, public relations and media marketing to provide parents and students information about Summer Advantage, aiding them in their decision to register for the program and, also, ensure that all of their questions and concerns are answered as they prepare to attend Summer Advantage. You'll also work with on-campus stakeholders to provide information and resources to help make Summer Advantage successful.
Job Location/ Hours Required
The candidate will perform job duties pertaining to Summer Advantage at designated locations throughout the HPU campus. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to 5-10 hours per week according to program demands.
Responsibilities:
  • Keeping up-to-date with information about Summer Advantage
  • Interacting weekly, via email or in-person with the Director of Summer Advantage
  • Interacting with students and parents, in person at admissions events, over the phone and, also, by email.
  • Responding to questions sent to the Summer Advantage email address
  • Clerical duties, including addressing and mailing registration packages
  • Attending selected planning meetings for Summer Advantage
  • Monitoring and creating social media posts

Required Qualifications:
  • Applicant must possess strong communication skills, plus have event planning and marketing interest and aptitude. In addition, she/he must possess a strong work ethic, be a team player, exercise discretion in interacting with students and parents and always represent High Point University and the Summer Advantage program in a positive and productive manner.
