Position Overview

Spectate Group, part of the Nicholas Family of Companies, is seeking a Senior Ice and Facilities Technician to work closely with the Facilities Manager in maintaining the ice surface, Zamboni equipment, and overall facility operations. This role is responsible for ice resurfacing, monitoring ice conditions, and performing minor ice and rink repairs, while also assisting with facility inspections, repairs, cleanliness, and preventive maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and refrigeration systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Performs preventative and reactive maintenance across the facility and surrounding grounds
• Conducts regular ice maintenance, including depth measurement, edging, dry cutting, and building ice
• Maintains accurate logs for the ice surface and mechanical systems including Zamboni’s, refrigeration systems, and roof top units
• Assists with general labor tasks such as ice installation/removal and glass/board maintenance
• Performs routine maintenance and diagnostics on Zamboni and other ice resurfacing equipment
• Monitors the condition of refrigeration skids, HVAC systems, and other critical infrastructure. Reports issues to the Facilities manager, when necessary.
• Executes maintenance tasks safely and professionally, following all established protocols
• Inspects facility areas for damage and complete or report repairs as needed
• Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)for work order completion
• Responsible for keeping all areas of the facility clean and organized.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards
• Adheres to all safety and security procedures
• Participates in after-hours on-call coverage in coordination with the Facilities Manager, Rink Attendant and Team Lead
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager and Regional Facilities Manager

Qualifications:

• High school degree, or equivalent training experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating an ice resurfacer.
• Experience in ice arena operations, Zamboni, and facility equipment maintenance
• Familiarity with CMMS and Building Automation Systems (BAS) preferred
• Ability to operate ice resurfacers, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other facility equipment
• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools
• Ability to perform both maintenance and custodial duties
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Knowledge of refrigeration systems, HVAC, and dehumidification processes
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to safety and compliance with all regulations
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
