Job description

Secretary

The secretary is responsible for maintaining general office procedures within the front office. This position will be the main point of contact to all stakeholders who enter the school.

Required qualifications include:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • At least three years experience in a clerical/secretarial position.
  • Experience and knowledge with computers and fundamental technology.
  • Experience with filing and record keeping.
  • Ability to be flexible and multitask.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.
  • Embodies the core values of the district; relational, purposeful, reflective, resourceful, courageous, and accountable.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. When appropriate, reasonable accommodations will be provided to afford persons with disabilities an opportunity to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Must be able to provide a criminal background check with results that adhere to Bulloch County Board of Education Policy GAK(1).

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience working in a K-12 environment.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assists in establishing and maintain general office procedures.
  • Answers phone and directs calls as necessary.
  • Greets all incoming traffic and ensures proper sign-in process is followed.
  • Keeps record of all written and verbal correspondence for the office.
  • Routes all correspondence/messages to appropriate school personnel.
  • Assists with processing and disseminating mail as assigned.
  • Inventories and requests office supplies and materials necessary for day to day operations.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining appropriate yearly records and reports as required by the system and school.
  • Maintains accurate and readily accessible records on all correspondence.
  • Processes monthly attendance reports.
  • Types and assembles correspondence, memos, reports, budgets, handbooks and other materials.
  • Assists in scheduling daily appointments and meetings.
  • Prepares materials for presentations, workshops, in-service days, conferences, etc.
  • Assists with bus and car duty as needed.
  • Assists with student registration as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
