Job description

Solid Steel Manufacturing is looking for an experienced Fixture / Prototype Builder to join our growing manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on fabrication skills and experience building fixtures, prototypes, and welded steel assemblies from engineering drawings and customer specifications.


Responsibilities

  • Build prototype and production-intent fixtures, racks, and material handling equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
  • Measure, layout, cut, fit, and weld steel components to required specifications.
  • Develop and build fixtures to support manufacturing and production processes.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve design or build issues.
  • Make adjustments and modifications to prototypes based on fit, function, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure completed work meets quality, dimensional, and customer specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in fixture building, prototype fabrication, welding, or a related manufacturing field.
  • Strong MIG welding and fabrication skills.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, levels, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to use shop equipment including saws, drills, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and take ownership of projects.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing, material handling racks, or industrial fabrication is a plus.
