Job description

Licensed General Contractor / Foreman

Society’s Project — Residential & Commercial Construction

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Schedule: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM with 12:00–1:00 PM lunch

Position: Full-Time | Field Leadership

Society’s Project is looking for an experienced Licensed General Contractor / Foreman who is ready to take ownership of residential and commercial construction projects, lead a crew, and help us continue building a growing construction company.

This is not simply a skilled-labor position. We are looking for someone who can walk onto a jobsite, understand what needs to happen, organize the crew, coordinate materials, solve problems, maintain our quality standards, and keep the project moving toward completion.

The right person will be an experienced construction professional who takes pride in their work, communicates well, leads by example, and can be trusted with responsibility.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As a Society’s Project Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of assigned jobsites, including:

  • Directing Team Leads, Crew Members, and Apprentices
  • Assigning daily work and establishing production goals
  • Reviewing and understanding project scopes
  • Planning the proper order of construction operations
  • Managing jobsite workflow
  • Maintaining quality-control standards
  • Inspecting crew members’ work
  • Training and developing less-experienced employees
  • Maintaining a clean, professional, and safe jobsite
  • Communicating jobsite progress and problems to ownership
  • Identifying potential delays before they become major problems
  • Coordinating multiple trades and phases of construction
  • Keeping projects on schedule
  • Taking responsibility for deadline job completion
  • Completing and managing punch-list items
  • Protecting customer property throughout construction
Material Management

The Foreman will also be responsible for keeping projects supplied and productive.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing material lists
  • Anticipating upcoming material needs
  • Picking up and delivering materials
  • Coordinating supplier orders
  • Verifying material quantities
  • Checking materials for damage or incorrect items
  • Organizing and submitting receipts
  • Monitoring material usage and waste
  • Reducing unnecessary supply runs and downtime
Crew & Time Management

The Foreman will be responsible for managing employee time and productivity, including:

  • Tracking employee start and end times
  • Verifying hours worked
  • Tracking which job employees worked on
  • Recording partial days when necessary
  • Reporting absences and late arrivals
  • Monitoring crew productivity
  • Keeping employees focused on daily goals
  • Communicating staffing needs to ownership

Construction Experience We’re Looking For

Strong experience across residential and commercial construction is important. Knowledge in multiple areas is preferred, including:

  • Framing
  • Drywall installation and finishing
  • Painting
  • Flooring
  • Tile
  • Finish carpentry
  • Cabinet and vanity installation
  • Roofing
  • Siding and exterior construction
  • Structural repairs
  • Kitchens and bathrooms
  • Renovations and property rehabilitation

You do not need to personally perform every task on every project. A major part of this position is knowing how the work should be completed, how to direct the people performing it, and how to recognize whether the finished work meets professional standards.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a valid general contractor license where required for the work performed
  • Has significant hands-on construction experience
  • Has previous crew-leadership or jobsite-management experience
  • Can confidently direct a construction crew
  • Understands construction sequencing and project planning
  • Can identify and solve jobsite problems
  • Can accurately determine material needs
  • Understands professional workmanship standards
  • Can maintain schedules and meet project deadlines
  • Communicates professionally with customers and employees
  • Takes accountability for the project rather than waiting to be told every next step
  • Has a valid driver’s license and is capable of handling material pickups and jobsite travel

Who Will Be Successful Here

We want someone who looks at a project and thinks:

What needs to happen next? What does my crew need? What materials are we going to need tomorrow? Are we on schedule? Is the work being completed correctly?

We value leaders who can make decisions, solve problems, teach others, and take pride in the final product.

Society’s Project is growing, and we are looking for someone who wants to help build more than individual projects. We want someone interested in helping develop crews, improve systems, maintain standards, and grow with the company.

Compensation

$30.00 per hour

Federal holidays are optional for employees. Employees who elect to work an eligible federal holiday are paid 1.5× their normal hourly rate, subject to Society’s Project policy and applicable wage laws.

Long-term employees also become eligible for the company’s paid-time-off program after five years of employment.

About Society’s Project
