Position Title: Interpretation and Education Intern InternXL 2026

Compensation: $17.20/hour | 40 hours per week
The Greening Youth Foundation (GYF) is proud to partner with the National Park Service (NPS) through the InternXL Internship Program, offering impactful internship experiences for students and recent graduates from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This initiative is part of our ongoing mission to build pathways for young Black professionals in public service and conservation careers.
We are currently recruiting
10 InternXL interns to serve at culturally and historically significant NPS sites, where they will support interpretation, education, descendant and community engagement, and preservation work.
Position Description:Between May and August, the intern will play a key role in enhancing the visitor experience at the park. By delivering thorough, balanced, and accurate information they will help broaden the parkโs interpretive and educational offerings to connect with a wider audience. Workingย alongside staff andย park partners, the intern will contribute to innovative approaches for interpreting and sharing the Pullman story and our tie to recent Freedom 250 initiatives through the lens of the community.ย
Additionally, the intern will assist in developing new programs, creating engaging digital content, and producing other park-related materials designed to attract and involve new and younger visitors. Comprehensive training will prepare them to lead interpretive walks, host talks,ย generate digital contentย and develop one new interperative product,โensuring visitors of all ages experience meaningful and memorable interactions.ย
Located within a dynamic urban setting, our park anticipates a vibrant and energetic summer as we continue to celebrate both Freedom 250 and the 100th Anniversary of the BSCP. This internship provides a unique opportunity for hands-on public engagement and the chance to help strengthen the parkโs partnerships with non-profit organizations.ย ย
Eligibility Requirements:โข Must be a senior or recent graduate of an HBCU (within the past 2 years)
โข Must have a valid driver's license
โข Must be able to commit to a 12-week, full-time internship
