Operate forklifts, handle metals, and support real aerospace hardware projects at NASA Langley. Science and Technology Corporation is seeking a hands-on technician who enjoys working with equipment, organizing materials, and supporting engineers in an active warehouse and shop environment. This position supports engineering and fabrication teams by receiving metals and materials from vendors, moving materials with forklifts, preparing metal samples for laboratory testing, and helping keep the warehouse and shop organized and running efficiently. Responsibilities This role supports warehouse logistics and shop operations that keep engineering and fabrication teams supplied with materials. Responsibilities include: • Daily forklift operation using a variety of forklifts to move materials and equipment • Receiving metal shipments and industrial materials from vendors • Verifying deliveries against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documentation • Cutting metal samples to submit to the MAQA laboratory for testing and verification • Using shop tools such as grinders, snips, Sawzalls, and other cutting tools to prepare samples • Staging and organizing materials for engineers and technicians • Coordinating material movement and logistics through email and internal communication • Maintaining organized storage areas and accurate material placement • Supporting shop cleanup and maintaining a clean, safe work environment • Assisting with general warehouse logistics tasks and other duties as assigned Typical Day A typical day may include: • Operating forklifts to unload vendor deliveries and move materials within the shop • Receiving metals and verifying shipments against purchase orders • Preparing small metal samples for laboratory testing using shop tools • Organizing material racks and staging materials for engineering teams • Communicating with team members regarding incoming materials and logistics needs • Helping maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment Work Environment This position is located on site at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. The work environment includes warehouse and fabrication shop areas where materials are received, staged, and prepared for engineering teams. The role involves frequent movement of materials, forklift operation, and working around fabrication equipment. Job Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent • Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or material handling • Experience operating forklifts or similar material handling equipment • Ability to use basic shop tools such as grinders, snips, or cutting tools • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs • Ability to obtain and maintain NASA site access credentials Preferred Qualifications • Forklift certification • Experience working with metals or industrial materials • Experience supporting technical, manufacturing, or fabrication environments • Experience using inventory or material tracking systems We are equal opportunity/affirmative action employers, committed to diversity in the workplace.
