High School Science Teacher
Summary

Kairos Academies is seeking a hardworking, culture-building, student-focused, data-driven high school Science Teacher. At Kairos, all teachers are leadersโ€”youโ€™ll not only teach rigorous lab-based science courses but also serve in a whole-school service role (e.g., STEM Lead, Safety Lead) that advances inquiry, innovation, and student agency.

Key Responsibilities

Rigorous Instruction amp; Curriculum
  • Adapt and implement NGSS- and standards-aligned Science units
  • Design hands-on labs, simulations, rubrics, and performance assessments
Data-Driven Practice
  • Analyze EOC, NWEA, MAP, and internal lab assessments to inform instruction
  • Monitor conceptual understanding, address misconceptions, and differentiate supports
Student amp; Family Engagement
  • Provide daily, actionable feedback in lab notebooks, reports, and problem sets
  • Communicate progress and next steps via email, calls, and parent-teacher conferences
Mentoring
  • Facilitate student Circle once a week, as well as participate in all staff Circle once a week
  • Monitor your mentor groupโ€™s academic and behavior progress and provide support students in setting and reaching ambitious academic and character development goals
  • Provide guidance and support on studentsโ€™ self-discovery work
  • Serve as a direct point-of-contact for Kairos families to communicate school-wide information
Whole School Leadership
  • Serve in a โ€œwhole-school serviceโ€ role (e.g., Tutoring Lead, Safety Lead) to drive STEM initiatives.
----
Driver Goals
  • EOC Proficiency: 60% of students meet or exceed EOC proficiency benchmarks.
  • NWEA Growth: 70% of students demonstrate expected or above-expected growth.
  • Mentoring Participation: 75% of students meet coaching engagement and reflection benchmarks.
  • On-Track Gradient Classes: 85% of students maintain on-track progress in Science coursework.
----
Our Promise
Kairos Academies has been recognized by Forbes, Education Week, and NBC Today for reimagining 21st-century educationโ€”replacing passive lectures with hands-on projects and โ€œbehavior managersโ€ with 1:1 executive-functioning mentors. We develop self-governing citizens ready to lead themselves and their communities.
This Role Isnโ€™t for You If You Wonโ€™tโ€ฆ
  • Go above amp; beyond to do what's best for students
  • Proactively seek feedback and refine your practice
  • Embrace rapid change and continuous improvement
  • Engage in healthy debate and constructive feedback

  • Experience: 3+ years of high school Chemistry and/or Physics teaching preferred
  • Skills: Expertise in laboratory safety, scientific inquiry, data analysis, and modeling
  • Other: Eligible to work for any employer in the U.S; pass criminal background check
Technology amp; Safety
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, student information systems, and digital science tools (e.g., PhET, Vernier LabQuest)
  • Commitment to lab safety protocols, emergency procedures, and chemical handling regulations
---
Compensation amp; Benefits
  • Base Salary: $60,000
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off amp; wellness reimbursement
