Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Procurement Category Specialist to develop and execute procurement strategies that support cost, quality, and project schedule goals. This role will focus on supplier management, contract negotiations, cost analysis, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and drive savings across the organization.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies across assigned categories.
  • Analyze supplier spend, costs, market trends, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers and improve procurement processes.
  • Monitor pricing, commodity trends, supplier capacity, industry developments, and new products.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal teams.
  • Support negotiations for contracts and Master Agreements with key suppliers.
  • Establish and track supplier KPIs, benchmarks, and performance metrics.
  • Identify gaps and develop action plans to improve procurement performance.
  • Partner with estimating, project management, and supply chain teams to improve cost tracking and purchasing practices.
  • Lead and support cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop innovative solutions to address complex procurement challenges.
  • Adapt category strategies based on changing market conditions and business needs.
  • Promote a safe, compliant, and collaborative work environment.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • 5–7 years of experience in procurement, contract management, project management, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and implementing procurement or category strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts with vendors.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Experience with cost analysis, supplier benchmarks, and KPIs.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, estimating, business operations, and leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively across teams.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and able to think strategically and in terms of process improvement.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification preferred.
