Job description

LEAD REMODELING CARPENTER / LEAD CARPENTER

Savage Remodeling is looking for an experienced, hands-on Leayd Remodeling Carpenter to join our residential remodeling team.

This is not an entry-level carpenter position. We are looking for someone who can take a project from drawings and scope, plan the work several steps ahead, direct a second carpenter/helper, and perform high-quality remodeling work without requiring constant supervision.

Our projects primarily include bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and other residential interior renovations.

EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Bathrooms, Waterproofing & Tile

- Shower pans and custom showers

- Schluter/Kerdi, GoBoard, or comparable waterproofing systems

- Niches, benches, curbs, and curbless transitions

- Wall and floor tile installation

- Clean layouts, flat installations, and consistent grout joints

Plumbing & Basic Electrical Rough-In

- PEX water-supply piping

- Copper-to-PEX transitions

- PVC DWV installation

- Understanding of proper pitch, traps, trap arms, venting, and common residential plumbing requirements

- Basic residential electrical rough-in, including receptacles, switches, lighting, and wiring in preparation for inspection

Framing & Drywall

- Interior wall framing and framing modifications

- Understanding of basic structural load paths

- Drywall hanging, accurate cutouts, and finishing

- Ability to troubleshoot existing conditions commonly encountered in older homes

Cabinetry & Finish Carpentry

- Level and plumb cabinet installation

- Scribing and fitting cabinetry

- Interior doors

- Baseboard and casing

- Crown molding and detailed finish work

JOBSITE LEADERSHIP & INDEPENDENCE:

The right candidate must be able to:

- Read plans, layout drawings, sketches, and written scopes

- Follow specified details accurately

- Plan work several steps ahead

- Identify problems before they become rework

- Determine material and tool needs before beginning a task

- Keep a second carpenter/helper productive

- Solve normal day-to-day remodeling problems independently

- Know when a condition requires clarification and communicate before changing the planned work

We are looking for someone dependable, organized, productive, and calm under pressure who takes pride in doing high-quality work.

This is a hands-on position. The Lead Carpenter works alongside the crew while also taking responsibility for daily jobsite production, quality, sequencing, and communication.

COMPENSATION:

$36-$40 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability.

Full-time position.

Projects are primarily located throughout the Philadelphia suburbs, with our company based in Conshohocken, PA.
