Founded in 1978,SARC has been a cornerstone of safety and support in HarfordCounty. what started as a grassroots effort has grown into acomprehensive resource center offering shelter, crisisintervention, legal advocacy, and community education. About theRole: Residential Advocate (Safehouse)
As a SafehouseAdvocate, you will be the heart of our shelter - asteady, compassionate presence for survivors in crisis. You'llensure a safe, welcoming environment while responding to urgentneeds with grace under pressure.
What You'll Do:

• Be the firstpoint of supportfor residents-greeting them, answering requests, and ensuringtheir needsare met.
• Conductintakes and orientationsto helpsurvivors and their children settle into a safespace.
• Maintain theshelter's environment- restockingsupplies, organizing donations, keeping common areas clean,and conducting security checks.
• Respond tocrises with confidence, includinganswering the emergency hotline, safety planning, andproviding emotional support.
• Workcollaboratively with on-call staffto handleurgent situations and ensure residents receive the care theyneed.

Schedule: Every other Saturday and Sunday, 8am-4pm
Salary: $20.00 per hour, plus a weekend shift differential of $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 8am and 8pm.
Requirements
What YouNeed:

• Commitment tosupporting survivors of domestic violence and sexualassault.
• Emotionalmaturity, flexibility, and attention todetail.
• Physicalabilityto climb stairs and occasionally lift bulkyitems.
• A validdriver's license with a clean driving record (you may needto drive the agency's van to pick up donateditems).

Preferred:Atleastone year ofexperience in crisis interventionor a relatedfield.
