Job description

Santa Fe Energy is looking for a Mineral Buyer to join our acquisitions team in Dallas. Since 2020, we have deployed over $500 million into Permian Basin mineral interests, and we are still buying. The Mineral Buyer works directly with our Director of Investor Relations and Business Development, finding mineral and royalty owners across West Texas and moving those conversations toward a purchase. While prior experience is preferred, it is not required. A strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and excellent communication skills are essential.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable spending the day on the phone, calling mineral and royalty owners, supporting deal flow, coordinating with various teams, and helping achieve company objectives. This role offers a competitive base salary, commissions, and full benefits. The ideal candidate would have 1 to 3 years of acquisition or sales experience.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Call and email mineral and royalty owners across West Texas and the Permian Basin to originate acquisition opportunities
  • Qualify owner interest, gather ownership information, and advance conversations toward a purchase offer
  • Maintain accurate call notes, contact records, and deal status in the company’s CRM, M1neral
  • Research court records and other public information to confirm ownership
  • Support the negotiation and closing of agreements, including assisting with the due diligence process
  • Coordinate with Title Team and Legal Team in connection with the negotiation and closing of deals
  • Build and maintain relationships with landowners and brokers for potential future sales
  • Provide direct support to the Director of Investor Relations and Business Development on various business development initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 to 3 years of acquisition or sales experience
  • High degree of personal integrity
  • Willingness to engage in high-volume calling and business development activities
  • Resilience in the face of rejection and the persistence to work a call list from start to finish
  • Highly motivated and entrepreneurial; possessing a high degree of personal initiative, high work ethic, and intellectual curiosity
  • Attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and customer relationship management software (e.g., Salesforce, M1neral, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team
  • Based in, or willing to relocate to, Dallas, Texas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Energy Management, Petroleum Land Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Prior phone-based sales, acquisition, or business development experience
  • Familiarity with mineral and royalty ownership concepts and West Texas county records
