Job description

Position Title: Quality Manager

Department: Operations

Reports To: Vice President of Operations

Location: Pampa, Texas

Classification: Full-Time | Exempt


Job Description: The Quality Manager is responsible for building, leading, and driving practical quality systems across SWM’s manufacturing operations. This role aims to reduce quality escapes, strengthen operational discipline, and improve consistency in execution across incoming, in-process, final, supplier, and customer-related quality activities. This is a hands-on, working manager role. The majority of time is expected to be spent on the shop floor, directly engaging with people and processes, and solving problems.

Responsibilities

Quality System Leadership

  • Build and enforce systems for nonconformance, containment, root cause, corrective action, and verification
  • Ensure processes are used in practice, not just documented

Internal Quality Control

  • Strengthen incoming, in-process, and final inspection discipline
  • Standardize inspection methods, control points, and reaction plans
  • Reduce variability and informal decision-making

Customer Quality Support

  • Lead investigations and corrective actions for quality issues
  • Prepare structured, defensible reports for leadership
  • Support (not own) customer communication

Supplier Quality

  • Establish a supplier audit and feedback process
  • Coordinate supplier-related issue resolution with supply chain and operations
  • Support leadership involvement in key supplier interactions

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop quality personnel
  • Establish accountability, standard work, and consistency
  • Train and elevate workforce quality awareness

Shop Floor Execution

  • Maintain strong daily presence in production
  • Observe, intervene, and coach in real time
  • Validate that standards are being followed


Required Experience

  • Manufacturing quality leadership experience
  • Hands-on experience with inspection, nonconformance, root cause, and corrective action
  • Proven ability to work directly with production teams
  • Experience building or improving systems in an evolving environment
  • Experience leading and developing people


Preferred

  • Oilfield, machining, or industrial manufacturing experience
  • Supplier quality experience
  • Customer quality support experience
  • Degree preferred, experience-first mindset


Success Measures (First 12 Months)

  • Reduction in internal and external quality escapes
  • Improved containment and corrective action effectiveness
  • Consistent use of quality processes
  • Supplier audit process established
  • Stronger inspection discipline
  • Improved capability of the quality team


Positional Information

  • Compensation Range: $80,000 to $115,000
  • Reports to: Vice President of Operations
  • Travel Expectations: Less than 10%
  • Physical and Environmental expectations: standing and walking for extended periods, shop-floor exposure, forklift traffic, etc.
