Position Summary:
The role is a hybrid Business Analyst / Product Owner position, with responsibilities split approximately 70% functional and 30% technical.
Functional Responsibilities (~70% of the role)
1. Lead discovery calls and requirements-gathering sessions with stakeholders across the organization.
2. Define project scope, deliverables, dependencies, success criteria, and acceptance criteria.
3. Translate business needs into clear specifications for the BI team.
4. Serve as the primary intake point for project requests into the Business Intelligence Department.
5. Manage stakeholder relationships and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
6. Provide impact and effort assessments to support leadership prioritization decisions.
7. Coordinate project management activities - tracking progress, surfacing risks, facilitating status updates.
Technical Responsibilities (~30% of the role)
1. Understand the technical context of projects spanning data engineering, Power Platform application development, SQL-based reporting, and AI/ML applications.
2. Document technical requirements with sufficient detail to support implementation.
3. Understand data sources, system integrations, and the technical dependencies between projects.
4. Translate technical complexity into business-friendly language for stakeholder communication.
5. Validate that delivered work meets the documented requirements before stakeholder sign-off
Requirements
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience.
Professional
• Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent IIBA certification.
• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent agile certification.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) at a conceptual level.
• Familiarity with healthcare data environments, particularly Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), the 340B Drug Pricing Program, or pharmacy operations.
• Familiarity with project management or work tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project).
Experience Level
• Mid-level (3-7 years of relevant experience).
• The role requires enough experience to operate with significant autonomy - leading stakeholder conversations, structuring intake processes from the ground up, and translating between technical and business contexts without close supervision.
• However, the role does not require senior-level depth (8+ years, leading other BAs, or owning strategy). The proposed compensation range of $77,000-$110,000 is consistent with a mid-level professional in healthcare BI/analytics in the South Carolina market.
• The role would also be a fit for an experienced healthcare BA looking to move into a more cross-functional environment, or for a senior BA from a non-healthcare industry transitioning into healthcare.
Reporting Structure
• Individual contributor. Reports directly to the Business Intelligence Officer.
• The role does not currently supervise other staff. Responsibilities are individual contributor in nature: the Business Analyst owns the work product (requirements, scope, documentation) rather than managing direct reports.
Physical/Environmental
• Ability to interact with computer screen for up to six hours at a time (visual acuity required).
• Must have manual dexterity for use of keyboard. Ability to remain stationary for periods of up to four hours. Ability to communicate via phone, mail and in person to resolve disputes, solve problems, etc.
• Capacity to function in a sometimes stressful, multi-tasking environment
