Role Description The Group Benefits Sales Associate is a full-time, on-site role based in Pittsburg, KS. This position focuses on identifying and developing new group benefits business opportunities, including health, dental, vision, and ancillary benefits for employer groups. Daily activities include prospecting and networking, conducting needs assessments, preparing proposals, and presenting solutions to prospective and existing clients. The role involves coordinating with carriers to obtain quotes, supporting enrollment processes, and ensuring accurate documentation in agency systems. The associate also provides ongoing client service, assists with claims-related questions, and collaborates with internal team members to maintain strong client relationships and retention.

Qualifications

• Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with a focus on employer group benefits.
• Ability to conduct needs analysis, interpret benefit plan options, and communicate complex information clearly.
• Solid organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills to manage multiple prospects and client accounts.
• Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and willingness to learn agency management systems.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including professional presentation abilities.
• Customer service mindset with a commitment to ethical representation, advocacy, and confidentiality.
• High level of initiative, reliability, and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and carrier partners.
• Prior experience in insurance, employee benefits, or B2B sales is preferred; relevant licensing (e.g., health and life insurance) or ability to obtain it within a defined timeframe is strongly beneficial.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, or a related field is advantageous, though equivalent experience will be considered.
