Job description

The Director of Facilities provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all facilities-related functions across all company locations. This role is responsible for setting the facilities strategy, managing capital and repair/maintenance programs, ensuring brand standards compliance, and driving operational excellence through cost-effective, guest-focused facility solutions.


Strategic Leadership & Program Management

•    Develop and execute a facilities strategy aligned with the Company’s growth and brand transformation goals.

•    Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing facilities team including regional facilities technicians and vendor partners.

•    Establish KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics to measure program effectiveness, cost efficiency, and restaurant uptime.

•    Serve as the internal subject matter expert on facilities best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends.


Repair & Maintenance Operations

•    Oversee the national R&M program for company-owned restaurants, including preventive maintenance schedules, reactive repair protocols, and emergency response.

•    Manage and optimize facilities management software to track work orders, vendor performance, and asset lifecycle.

•    Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for equipment maintenance, including kitchen equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems.

•    Analyze repair trends and data to proactively identify systemic issues and drive capital planning decisions.


Capital Planning & Budget Management

•    Lead annual capital planning process for facilities-related expenditures across the restaurant portfolio, including equipment replacement, remodeling support, and deferred maintenance.

•    Manage the facilities operating and capital budgets, ensuring spend accountability and ROI delivery.

•    Partner with Finance to develop accurate forecasting models and track actuals versus budget on a monthly basis.


Vendor & Contract Management

•    Source, negotiate, and manage vendor contracts for facilities services including HVAC, janitorial, pest control, landscaping, waste management, and general maintenance.

•    Build and maintain a robust national vendor network with tiered service agreements and performance accountability.

•    Conduct regular vendor reviews and drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, and response time.


Brand Standards & Compliance

•    Ensure all facilities programs uphold brand standards and deliver a safe, clean, and welcoming guest environment.

•    Partner with Operations to address facilities-related health, safety, and regulatory compliance matters.

•    Support ADA compliance, local code adherence, and health department requirements across the restaurant portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

•    10+ years of progressive facilities management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or director-level role.

•    Experience managing facilities across a multi-unit restaurant, retail, or hospitality portfolio (30+ locations strongly preferred).

•    Demonstrated success managing large-scale R&M programs and vendor networks.

•    Experience overseeing facilities budgets.


Skills & Competencies

•    Deep technical knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.

•    Strong financial acumen with experience in capital planning, budgeting, and cost analysis.

•    Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.

•    Proficiency with facilities management platforms and data-driven decision-making.

•    Outstanding leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

•    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

•    Up to 50% travel required.
