About the role

In this role, you will be the person business partners turn to when regulatory questions become complex. You will investigate credit reporting disputes and SCRA determinations, bring the right stakeholders into the conversation when an issue requires broader input, and translate new state legislation into clear, actionable guidance for the business. You will also lead quarterly monitoring and testing, present findings to senior leadership, and help shape the policies and controls that keep Reprise Financial compliant as it scales.

As Reprise Financial grows, you will serve as the go‑to subject matter expert on consumer protection laws and regulations impacting consumer lending and loan servicing operations, including but not limited to credit reporting, collections, payment processing, customer communications, data protection and privacy, and Bank Secrecy Act requirements. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, you will identify risk early and build practical, actionable solutions that help the business continue moving forward responsibly. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience supporting consumer finance and loan servicing operations within a regulated environment. Success in this role requires the ability to build strong relationships across the organization, understand operational challenges, and provide practical, risk‑based compliance guidance that enables the business to achieve its objectives while remaining compliant.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance program management

• Deliver and manage key elements of the company's Compliance Program, including monitoring and testing, complaint and disputes, training, and policies and procedures.

• Conduct quarterly monitoring and testing of federal and state regulatory obligations and the effectiveness of associated controls; present observations, exceptions, and findings, and drive implementation of corrective actions and control enhancements.

• Provide regulatory compliance oversight for business processes and functional areas spanning consumer financial protection, data protection and privacy, and Bank Secrecy Act requirements.

• Build and scale monitoring and testing programs and report on the company's performance against key compliance metrics to senior management on a regular basis.

Investigations and Regulatory Determinations

• Review and respond to Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) determination requests, resolving routine questions directly and convening cross‑functional discussions (compliance, legal, and business stakeholders) for complex, higher‑impact determinations.

• Support credit bureau reporting (CBR) investigations by partnering with Customer Advocacy and IT to confirm disputed inaccuracies, oversee corrections through the applicable reporting standard, and reconcile data between the system of record, the servicing platform, and the bureaus when deeper research is required.

• Serve as a point of escalation for servicing‑related complaints, disputes and operational issues across departments, providing regulatory insight, identifying root causes and recommending policy, procedural, or control enhancements where warranted.

• Support regulatory exam requests and coordinate with business partners to resolve documentation or sampling gaps.

• Respond to privileged and legal research requests related to accounts in open proceedings, including credit reporting history and state notice/validation requirements.

Regulatory Change Management

• Monitor new and emerging state and federal legislation affecting the business or its vendors; research applicable statutes, evaluate the impact of new federal and state regulatory developments on consumer lending and loan servicing operations and partner with key stakeholders to design and implement required operational and compliance changes.

• Prepare and distribute memoranda to key personnel, summarizing new regulatory requirements, and associated implementation plans.

• Maintain and continuously improve a state‑based compliance knowledge base covering notices and letters, title requirements, call frequency and timing restrictions, and state SCRA requirements, prioritizing research based on current and projected state volumes.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration and Project Leadership

• Lead and provide oversight for compliance‑driven projects (e.g., loan amount/payment hierarchy validation, coerced debt legislative tracking, credit reporting standardization) from research through implementation.

• Collaborate with internal and external business partners and stakeholders to operationalize compliance and regulatory requirements.

• Partner with business leaders to identify compliance risks, evaluate operational impacts, and develop practical solutions that balance regulatory requirements with business objectives.

• Evaluate and assess data and other metrics for analytics and trending, distributing insights to senior management and other stakeholders as needed.

• Assist with the development of operating procedures, policies, and consumer‑facing communications.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

• Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, or a related function within a regulated consumer financial services environment, including experience supporting consumer lending and loan servicing operations.

• Experience supporting organizations subject to state regulatory oversight is preferred.

• Strong working knowledge of consumer financial services laws, regulations, and industry standards, including TILA, FCRA, FTC Act, ECOA, MLA, FDCPA, GLBA, UDAAP, SCRA, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements, and applicable state regulations.

• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and testing compliance controls, including evaluating control effectiveness, identifying compliance risks, and recommending corrective actions.

• Professional certifications such as CCEP, CRCM, CIA, or CAMS are preferred.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and online research tools, databases, and regulatory resources.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to investigate issues, conduct root cause analysis, and develop practical solutions.

• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to assess risk, analyze operational processes, and recommend compliant, business‑friendly solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex regulatory concepts to diverse audiences.

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

• Self‑motivated and highly organized, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

• Sound professional judgment with the ability to identify emerging risks, elevate concerns appropriately, and drive resolution.

• Adaptable and agile, with the ability to quickly learn new regulations, processes, and business requirements.

Location

This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere that suits you best! While you’ll primarily work from home, you are always welcome to visit our office in Irving, TX, whenever you choose. We encourage our remote team members to stay connected through regular virtual meetings and team events. All team members must reside in one of our approved locations by their start date, ensuring you remain part of our collaborative community.

Compensation

For this role our salary range is $105,000 to $120,000 per year depending on relevant experience. This role will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on both company and individual performance.
