GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a FLSA non-exempt position. The incumbent serves as Clinician I/II/III at Region Ten's Fluvanna County Clinic. The incumbent must be comfortable serving a diverse group of clients including, but not limited to, those involved with the criminal justice system, who have substance use disorders and/or serious mental illness. In this capacity they have the responsibility of providing assessment and treatment to adults, children, families and groups; and consultation/education in the community.
In carrying out the responsibilities of this position, the treatment provider reports to and receives general supervision from the Director III of the Fluvanna County Clinic. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound judgment, demonstrate initiative and maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies and procedures. They are expected to perform in accordance with applicable professional ethics, state quality assurance standards, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) regulations, as well as established Region Ten policies and procedures.

MAJOR DUTIES:
1. *Provides Diagnostic assessment along with initial treatment planning and recommendations
2. *Provides individual and group counseling and education to clients of Region Ten.
3. *Provides crisis intervention as needed.
4. *Provides referrals and linkages to other services and supports.
5. *Develops individualized treatment plans for all consumers and completes all required documentation
6. Establishes and maintains contacts with outside agencies as required.
7. Serves as advocate for Region Ten clients.
8. Seeks and receives supervision as required.
9. *Maintains current and complete documentation as required and within required timeframes.
10. Attends required meetings.
11. *Meets identified performance standards
12. Participates in trainings as required by supervisor
13. *Performs other duties as assigned in keeping with general description of this position
14. Reads all agency communication (i.e., Staff Notes, e-mail, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS:
All candidates must possess and maintain appropriate certification or licensure. Bachelor's degree required for Clinician I. Master's degree and actively seeking licensure, or must register with the Department of Health Professionals within 6 months of hire, required for Clinician II. All Clinician III candidates must hold a related license (LPC, LCSW), and be registered with the Department of Health Professionals
KSAS:
Knowledge of: counseling theories and techniques; brief, solution-focused individual and group counseling; substance use disorders; mental illness; suicidality; interviewing techniques; crisis intervention; DSM V diagnosis system, managed care. principles and theories of psychodynamic techniques, developmental psychology; principles of cognitive and personality assessment; psychiatric medications and their side effects; local services; Region Ten services; record keeping; For treatment providers providing substance addiction services: ASAM criteria for assessing individuals' level of care needs within Substance Use Services.
Skills in: treatment planning, individual and group counseling, interviewing, crisis management, DSM V diagnosis, engaging resistant or difficult to engage clients, working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system, fee collection, completing paperwork on daily basis, organization, providing initial therapeutic consultation, providing psychotherapy, ASAM assessment, effective communication, collaboration within/out of Region Ten, and electronic medical records.
Abilities to: establish rapport with clients and provide effective therapeutic interventions, maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of other professionals, accept supervision and seek it out when needed, effectively communicate with clients and other professionals, work independently and as a team member, recognize need for additional training; write reports; work under stressful situations; problem solve; formulate diagnosis and develop treatment plan; complete ASAM assessments and determine.
