Job description

About the Role:
Ray's Market Cafe is hiring a part-time short-order cook to work Thursday through Sunday. 

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook short-order menu items, including breakfast, lunch, and daily specials
  • Operate grill, fryer, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift
  • Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation for every plate
  • Restock and rotate ingredients, ensuring freshness and proper food storage
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure timely order fulfillment
  • Follow all food safety and health code regulations consistently
Requirements:
  • Prior experience as a short-order cook, line cook, or in a fast-paced kitchen environment is preferred
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately during high-volume periods 
  • Knowledge of basic food prep, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment
  • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper handling procedures
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work early morning, weekend, or holiday shifts as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills
