Job description

RJV Equipment is seeking an ambitious and hands-on Intern to support the daily operations of our construction equipment dealership. This role offers broad exposure, making it ideal for a motivated individual looking for a comprehensive introduction to the heavy equipment industry. This Position is at the LaVergne location.   

Key responsibilities

  • Administrative and Customer Support:
    • Greet customers, answer phones as needed, and direct inquiries to the appropriate department (sales, service, rental or parts).
    • Assist with customer payments over the phone.
    • Organize and replenish showroom product displays, and marketing materials, ensuring all items are properly priced and neatly organized.
  • Sales, Rental and Marketing Support:
    • Help prepare equipment for sale, including cleaning and taking photos.
    • Update online listings.
    • Assist with unloading and checking in new equipment loads.
    • Moving and organizing machinery and attachments in the yard.
    • Perform inbound and outbound rental inspections.
    • Assist rental department with machine pick up and drop offs.
    • Assist sales members on tagging and gathering sold equipment, attachments and accessories.
  • General Dealership Operations:
    • Learn and adhere to all dealership safety protocols.
    • Assist with miscellaneous tasks to support the overall efficiency of the dealership. 

Qualifications

  • A student or recent graduate, ideally with an interest in heavy equipment, construction, or business operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • A willingness to work outdoors as needed and an eagerness to learn. 

Work environment and physical demands

  • Office: The role requires working indoors for administrative tasks like answering phones, processing payments, and updating records.
  • Equipment yard: This involves working outdoors in all types of weather conditions to assist with yard organization, cleaning equipment, and taking photos for sales listings.
  • Physical activity: A significant amount of physical activity is involved, including standing, walking, and potentially lifting or moving heavy items.
  • Safety protocols: Safety is a critical component of the job due to the presence of heavy machinery. You will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), follow all safety signs and rules, and receive training on safety procedures.
