About the Role:

We are excited to bring the world of Rifle Paper Co. to Tampa and are seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven Assistant Store Manager to help launch and support the long-term success of our newest retail location. Reporting to the Store Manager, this role will play a key part in establishing a welcoming, inspiring store environment while helping build a strong team and exceptional customer experience from day one.

Partnering closely with the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager will help bring the Rifle Paper Co. vision to life through daily leadership, team development, operational excellence, and elevated customer service. As a trusted leader and brand ambassador, this role will help cultivate a collaborative, high-performing team through active coaching, clear accountability, and consistent support, fostering a culture where creativity, connection, and teamwork thrive.

The Assistant Store Manager will also help ensure our collections are beautifully merchandised, maintain operational standards, and inspire the team to achieve key performance and financial goals. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about delivering meaningful customer experiences, developing people, and bringing the Rifle Paper Co. brand to life through thoughtful leadership and genuine hospitality.

We anticipate beginning the hiring process in mid-summer 2027, with the store opening planned for Fall 2027.

What You Will Do:

  • Act as the ultimate brand ambassador of Rifle Paper Co., modeling our core values and attributes for the team while bringing our products and brand to life.
  • Warmly welcome every customer, sharing the unique brand story, design process, and "world of Rifle" with enthusiasm.
  • Ensure a best-in-class customer experience through service standards and team engagement.
  • Assist in leading the team to build personalized and authentic connections with our customers, enhancing their loyalty and affinity to Rifle Paper Co.
  • Cultivate a high-performing environment by consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets and key performance indicators.
  • Extensive experience in retail operations, assisting to oversee daily store operations including opening/closing procedures, cash management, and loss prevention.
  • Analyze sales trends, customer behavior, and performance metrics to identify growth opportunities.
  • Provide feedback to internal teams regarding customer feedback, trends, and operational insights.
  • Assist in executing local brand-right initiatives to increase traffic and customer engagement, establishing brand within community
  • Maintain high visual standards with attention to detail, ensuring the sales floor and displays are consistently aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Assist in communicating company initiatives, promotions, and product launches effectively to the team.
  • Ensure store presentation, cleanliness, and organization meets company expectations.
  • Assist in inventory management, replenishment, and stock organization
  • Assist Store Manager to recruit, hire, train, and develop store team members; fostering a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture aligned with our company values.
  • Support efforts for maintaining financial excellence, including payroll and labor budgets through creative scheduling to optimize productivity and profitability.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and development planning supported by our company values.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of business needs, and organizational objectives.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Design, Hospitality, or Marketing.
  • 3+ years of retail experience, including at least 1 year in an elevated leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of retail KPIs and financial management with a proven track record of creatively driving sales through outstanding service and leading by example on the sales floor to achieve performance goals.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, communication, and team development skills to build trusting relationships with both the team and customers, finding genuine joy in helping others.
  • Detail oriented with a deep passion for design, illustration, and the unique Rifle Paper Co. aesthetic and products.
  • A collaborative team player comfortable balancing exemplary customer service with daily operational and leadership goals.
  • Experience assisting in managing and maintaining payroll, budgets, and store financial performance with excellence.
  • Operates with a high degree of initiative and professionalism, thriving in a fast paced, collaborative environment with strong problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to balance customer experience, operational priorities and team leadership.
  • Strong  initiative, professionalism, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk the sales floor for extended period, including shifts up to 8 hours.
  • Ability regularly lift, push, or pull up to 40lbs and occasionally up to 50lbs with assistance.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends, holidays, or extended hours as required by operational demands.
