POSITION OVERVIEW

At Provident Bank, we are committed to building strong relationships and delivering exceptional financial solutions to the communities we serve. We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Government Banking Officer to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and expanding relationships within the public sector, serving as a trusted advisor to municipal, county, school district, and other government entities. You will partner closely with clients to understand their needs, identify opportunities, and deliver banking and treasury solutions that support their financial objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop and grow relationships with government and public sector clients.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities through networking, referrals, industry events, and the RFP process.
  • Conduct annual relationship reviews to evaluate services, pricing, and profitability while identifying opportunities for expansion.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for government banking clients.
  • Manage the end-to-end RFP process, including market analysis, pricing recommendations, proposal development, presentations, and follow-up activities.
  • Collaborate with internal partners across Treasury Management, Commercial Banking, Branch Banking, Credit, and Operations to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to develop strategies for retention, growth, and relationship profitability.
  • Represent Provident Bank at industry conferences, association meetings, and community events.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Government Banking experience or 5 years of related Retail Banking experience.
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership, governing boards, or public sector stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and influence decision-making.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience managing public funds relationships.
  • Knowledge of municipal banking, government deposit services, treasury management products, and public sector procurement processes.
  • Experience responding to and presenting competitive RFP proposals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a normal office environment. Noise levels are usually moderate. This position involves travel to customers and property locations.

  • Occasional bending or overhead lifting (storing files or boxes)
  • The hazards are mainly those present in a normal office setting

Pay Details:

$70,000-$100,000 annually

Please note, the base pay actually offered may vary based upon the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, education, geographic location, internal equity, and other applicable business and organizational needs. 

This role is incentive eligible based upon company, business, and/or individual goal achievement and performance.
