REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER


The Electrical Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the electrical build, wiring, and integration of custom manufacturing equipment. This role leads a team of 5-6 electrical technicians and coordinates panel shop activities to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of complex systems. The position requires strong hands-on experience with industrial wiring, control panels, PLCs, and HMIs, along with proven leadership in a manufacturing environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS


  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of 5-6 electrical technicians, providing daily direction, technical support, and performance feedbackย 
  • Oversee wiring and electrical assembly of custom equipment, ensuring compliance with schematics, standards, and customer specificationsย 
  • Coordinate and manage panel shop operations, including control panel layout, wiring, and testingย 
  • Install, connect, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and associated control systemsย 
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and bills of materials to guide build processesย 
  • Collaborate with engineering, mechanical assembly, and production teams to resolve design or build issuesย 
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, electrical codes, and company quality requirementsย 
  • Plan and prioritize workloads to meet project deadlines and production schedulesย 
  • Support system testing, commissioning, and debugging of equipment prior to shipmentย 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices for efficiency and qualityย 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of builds, changes, and issues


Requirements

Experience:ย 

  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on wiring custom equipmentย 
  • Proven experience working with industrial control systems, including PLCs and HMIsย 
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferredย 


Technical Skills:ย 

  • Strong knowledge of electrical wiring practices, control panel assembly, and industrial automation systemsย 
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawingsย 
  • Experience with troubleshooting electrical systems and control circuitsย 
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and safety standardsย 


Leadership & Soft Skills:ย 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate a technical teamย 
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skillsย 
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilitiesย 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environmentย 


Education:

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field preferredย 
  • Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to access industrial environments including climbing ladders, walking long distances, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise, dust).
