Role Description The Laboratory Billing Expert will focus on accurate and compliant billing for PCR laboratory testing, including Part A managed care claims and census-related billing for nursing home residents. This contract, remote role includes reviewing and submitting claims, verifying patient eligibility and coverage, and coordinating with nursing homes to confirm census data and documentation. The expert will analyze billing workflows, resolve claim denials, and identify opportunities to improve reimbursement processes. Daily responsibilities also include maintaining up-to-date knowledge of payer policies, regulatory requirements, and coding guidelines, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to address billing questions and discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in PCR laboratory billing, including knowledge of relevant CPT/HCPCS codes and payer-specific billing requirements.
• Strong experience with Part A managed care billing, claim submission processes, and working with Medicare Advantage and other managed care plans.
• Knowledge of nursing home census procedures, resident rosters, and how census data impacts billing and reimbursement.
• Proficiency with medical billing software, electronic health records, and claim clearinghouse platforms.
• Solid understanding of healthcare reimbursement regulations, compliance standards, and documentation requirements for laboratory services.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to identify and resolve billing issues and denials.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with nursing home staff, payers, and internal laboratory teams in a remote environment.
• Prior experience in clinical laboratory billing or long-term care billing; certification in medical billing or coding is preferred.
• Ability to work independently under a contract arrangement, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
