Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide exemplary respiratory care to patients across various care areas including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Room (ER), Medical/Surgical (M/S), Pediatrics, and low-volume newborn stabilization.

Responsibilities

  • Administer respiratory care to adult, pediatric, and newborn patients.
  • Perform critical procedures including extubation, airway placement (nasal and oral), and pulmonary hygiene.
  • Conduct sputum specimen collection and tracheostomy care.
  • Utilize various medications including inhaled steroids, bronchodilators, and nebulizers.
  • Manage non-invasive and invasive ventilation, including BiPAP and CPAP.
  • Troubleshoot ventilator alarms and ensure proper oxygen delivery to patients.
  • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide treatment decisions.
  • Provide support for the cardiology department by performing EKGs when necessary.
  • Adapt swiftly to changing care environments and work independently or alongside a second therapist.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in respiratory therapy.
  • First-time travelers welcome; local candidates must reside over 50 miles from the facility.
  • Proficient in both adult critical care and emergency department protocols.
  • Experience with a wide range of respiratory equipment and medications.
  • Caring and compassionate demeanor with strong communication skills.
  • New York state license must be in hand prior to the start of employment.

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Working Conditions

The respiratory therapy department operates 24/7 and provides critical care support in various environments. You will have the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills and work with a diverse patient population, including COVID-19 patients.

Equipment

  • Preferred Ventilators: Servo I, LTV, Hamilton T1
  • Knowledge of aerosol delivery systems and other respiratory therapeutic equipment is essential.
Schedule

This position requires availability for a day shift consisting of three 12-hour shifts, running from 07:00 to 19:00.
