A Home Health Director is a key administrative position within a home health agency, responsible for overseeing the overall operations, management, and quality of care provided to patients in their homes. The Director of Home Health coordinates the delivery of all required nursing services and functions of the home health care agency in providing integrated professional care. The Home Health Director is responsible for the leadership, administration, and coordination of all aspects of home health services provided by the agency. They ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, maintain high standards of patient care, and foster a supportive and efficient work environment for staff members.

This is a working leadership position. The Director is expected to provide hands‑on clinical support and may perform assessments, supervisory visits, care coordination, staff training, and other nursing duties as needed.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve organizational goals, expand services, and enhance the agency's reputation within the community.

• Participates in agency programs to inform the public about the availability and scope of services provided by the agency.

Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation regulations governing home health agencies. Stay updated on changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.

• Implements home care policies and procedures and ensures coordinated implementation of plans of treatment and utilization of necessary services for comprehensive care of patients.

Quality Assurance: Oversee quality improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to patients. Monitor key performance indicators, patient outcomes, and satisfaction levels.

Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise clinical and administrative staff. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to promote professional development and job satisfaction.

• Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates staff to ensure quality care and employee efficiency.
• Implements a comprehensive orientation program for all new personnel.
• Implements a continuous in-service program and continuing education program for all personnel.
• Supervises scheduling to assure adequate and appropriate staffing in response to client needs.
• Coordinates on‑call schedule to assure that a RN is available at all times during operating hours.

Financial Management: Develop and manage the agency's budget, monitor financial performance, and implement cost‑effective strategies to maximize revenue and minimize expenses.

• Directs and has final responsibility for all patient care services provided by the agency.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration among healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, therapists, and social workers, to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.

Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' rights and ensure that their needs, preferences, and concerns are addressed throughout the care process. Monitor patient satisfaction and implement initiatives to improve the patient experience.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, including infection control measures, safety protocols, and emergency preparedness plans.

Technology Utilization: Leverage technology solutions, such as electronic health records (EHRs) and telehealth platforms, to streamline operations, enhance communication, and improve patient care delivery.

Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with referral sources, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote the agency's services and foster partnerships that support the delivery of comprehensive care.

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with the state of Kansas with relevant experience in home health or community-based care.

Previous leadership experience in a healthcare setting, with demonstrated ability to manage staff, budgets, and operations effectively.

Strong knowledge of home health regulations, reimbursement mechanisms, and industry best practices.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Proficiency in computer applications and healthcare management software.
