Petite Cellars is looking for a friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team in Ellicott City. As the final point of contact for our guests, you play a vital role in ensuring every customer leaves with a positive impression of our store.

Role Overview

The Cashier is responsible for processing transactions accurately and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. You will handle high-value inventory and must be comfortable verifying identification and managing various payment methods.

• Salary: $32,000 – $40,000 per year (depending on experience)
• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Location: Ellicott City, MD

Key Responsibilities

• Transaction Management: Accurately ring up wine, spirits, and beer selections using our POS system.
• Regulatory Compliance: Strictly adhere to Maryland state laws by verifying legal drinking age for all customers (ID checks).
• Customer Service: Greet every customer warmly, answer basic questions about store layout, and assist with carry-outs if needed.
• Front-End Maintenance: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and stocked with bags and supplies.
• Problem Solving: Handle returns or transaction errors professionally and involve management when necessary.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous retail or cash-handling experience is preferred but not required.
• Integrity: Strong sense of responsibility and honesty when handling cash and high-end inventory.
• Pace: Ability to remain calm and efficient during peak hours and holiday rushes.
• Basic Math: Comfort with basic calculations for making change and processing discounts.
• Physical Ability: Ability to stand for long shifts and lift up to 30 lbs (lifting bags or small boxes).
