Overview

Prisma Health, a major non-profit health system in the Southeast, is looking to grow its Physical Therapy and Center for Spine Health team. This growth is based on both community need and an intentional focus on spine health. As part of this investment strategy, Prisma wishes to attract PTs experienced in the spine AND newer clinicians that are interested in developing their general and spine skillsets. Significant mentorship and support for professional development will be core to Prisma’s progress as we aim to make a significant impact in the community and be leaders in the field.

Physical Therapy – Spine at Prisma Health

Successful candidates will be board certified physical therapists that want to work towards growing something special. As part of a multilayered approach, we value people with a strong background in treating the spine as well as those less experienced but with a desire to build expertise.

  • Experienced clinicians will get the opportunity to mentor others, lead initiatives, pursue specific areas of interest, collaborate with physicians, and integrated in Prisma Health’s residency programs
  • Candidates newer to the field will receive significant support to develop and gain additional skills and qualifications (OCS, McKenzie MDT, etc.)
  • Learning and mentorship will be core components of work life at Prisma
  • Opportunity for significant cross-pollination/shared learning with other physical therapy sub-groups at Prisma such as aquatics, general orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, sports, vestibular, and women’s pelvic health

Prisma Health’s goal to be a leader in spine health is very clear and is supported by:

  • Ongoing development of a Center for Spine Health
  • Continued support of existing residencies and creation of new programs
  • Class leading biomechanics laboratory & staff
  • Physicians that are leaders in the field and pro-physical therapy

Further Insights

Prisma Health recognizes that there is a national shortage of physical therapists with expertise in the spine, and that misconceptions with regards to treatment methods are common. This impacts the ability of our entire field to serve patients and develop innovative practice. We are seeking the following qualities as we welcome new teammates to help us make a difference in the community and this field as a whole.

  • High level of clinical reasoning and a well-rounded clinical toolbox
  • Lifelong learner – desire to grow and approach new ideas with an open mind
  • Interest in progressing through the McKenzie Method
  • True passion for the spine and a commitment from new clinicians to immerse themselves into this space with enthusiasm and dedication
  • Prisma leadership is committed to supporting good teammates; ensuring that as career goals evolve, numerous other opportunities and specialties will remain options

Ownership

Physical therapists at Prisma have control over their lives – they are encouraged to find a schedule that works for them professionally and personally.

  • Current clinicians work a range of schedules such as 4x10-hr, 5x8-hr, 4x9 hr + 4 hr
  • Sustained excellence as part of Prisma’s growth is the priority.
