The Role
Panamint Capital is seeking an exceptional Renewable Energy Project Developer to help originate, evaluate, and execute renewable energy and energy transition projects across our portfolio of operating energy assets.
This role will focus on developing utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, hybrid generation, transmission, and other clean energy infrastructure projects, with a particular emphasis on repurposing and redeveloping existing thermal generation sites. By leveraging existing infrastructure, transmission connectivity, land positions, and long-standing community relationships, Panamint seeks to create new assets that deliver attractive returns while supporting grid reliability and energy transition.
This is a highly entrepreneurial and cross-functional role that combines project development, engineering, market analysis, commercial structuring, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with the firm's Development, Asset Management, Finance, and Executive teams to identify opportunities, navigate complex development challenges, and advance projects from concept through construction readiness.
The position offers significant responsibility and visibility across the organization, providing the opportunity to play a leading role in executing Panamint Capital's differentiated infrastructure development strategy and creating the next generation of energy assets on the foundation of existing operating facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Development
- Identify, evaluate, and advance renewable energy development opportunities.
- Secure site control through land acquisition, leases, options, and easements.
- Manage environmental, permitting, interconnection, and regulatory workstreams.
- Track project schedules, budgets, and key development milestones.
- Support project financing, acquisitions, and development due diligence efforts.
Engineering & Technical Analysis
- Review project layouts, engineering studies, and technical designs.
- Coordinate with consultants, EPC contractors, utilities, and technical advisors.
- Evaluate equipment selection, performance assumptions, and project economics.
- Support transmission, interconnection, and grid integration studies.
Market & Commercial Development
- Analyze power markets, capacity markets, and renewable energy incentives.
- Monitor regulatory developments impacting project economics and market opportunities.
- Support power marketing efforts, offtake strategies, and PPA negotiations.
- Evaluate competitive market dynamics and new development opportunities.
Stakeholder Management
- Engage landowners, utilities, regulatory agencies, and local stakeholders.
- Support public outreach initiatives and community engagement efforts.
- Coordinate internal teams across development, engineering, finance, and legal functions.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Experience
- Candidates with 2-5+ years of experience in renewable energy development, project management, engineering, energy markets, or related fields are preferred; however, exceptional recent graduates with strong analytical skills, project management capabilities, and a demonstrated interest in renewable energy development may also be considered.
- Experience with utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), wind, transmission, or other energy infrastructure projects preferred.
- Familiarity with renewable energy project development processes, permitting, and interconnection activities.
Skills
- Strong analytical, commercial, and financial modeling capabilities.
- Understanding of power markets, permitting requirements, and interconnection processes.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and project economics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with GIS and project management software is a plus.
Preferred Knowledge
- Federal tax incentives and renewable energy policy frameworks.
- Wholesale electricity markets including ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, MISO, and SPP.
- Environmental permitting and transmission development.
- Energy storage and hybrid generation project development.

- Advancing projects to Notice to Proceed (NTP).
- Achieving development milestones on schedule and within budget.
- Securing successful permitting and interconnection outcomes.
- Creating commercial value through strategic project development and execution.
Location
Incline Village, Nevada (Lake Tahoe) with travel as required to support project development activities.
