Job description

Job Title: Architectural Products Sales Representative – Texas Territory (Stainless Steel Handrails & Architectural Metals)

Company Overview  We are a growing manufacturer and installer of high-quality architectural metal products, specializing in premium stainless steel handrails and related systems for commercial, institutional, and multifamily projects across the continental United States and the Caribbean

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Architectural Products Sales Representative to drive growth in the Texas market. This is a field-based sales role focused on building demand and closing sales for stainless steel handrails and architectural metal products.

The ideal candidate brings proven experience selling architectural or building products to architects, designers, and General Contractors. While prior experience with metals or handrails is a plus, it is not required—we value strong relationship-building skills, technical aptitude, and a track record of success in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry. You will use a dual-channel strategy: influencing specifications with architects (pull demand) while executing direct, value-driven sales with budget-conscious General Contractors.

This role offers significant earning potential through a competitive base + commission structure, autonomy in a large territory, and the opportunity to represent high-quality, specification-driven products.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architect & Design Community Engagement (Specification & Demand Generation)

  • Build and nurture relationships with architects, designers, specifiers, and design firms through in-person/virtual presentations, lunch-and-learns, and site visits.
  • Present product solutions using samples, technical literature, CAD/BIM details, case studies, and AIA-accredited programs to secure product specifications in project plans.
  • Provide exceptional technical support, including specification reviews, design assistance, and value engineering to ensure our products are selected early in the design phase.

2. General Contractor & Contractor Sales

  • Prospect, bid, negotiate, and close sales with General Contractors, subcontractors, and installers.
  • Position products competitively by highlighting quality, durability, lead times, installation efficiency, and overall value—particularly appealing to budget-minded buyers.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead identification through contract.

3. Territory Development & Pipeline Management

  • Own the Texas territory: Identify high-potential opportunities in commercial, multifamily, education, healthcare, and public projects.
  • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan, leveraging construction databases, networking, and referrals to build a strong sales pipeline.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and activity tracking to meet or exceed sales targets, new account goals, and margin objectives.

4. Relationship Building, Networking & Market Presence

  • Actively participate in industry events, trade shows, AIA/AGC chapter meetings, and local networking opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, production, marketing) to deliver winning solutions and gather market feedback.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and code/regulatory changes affecting architectural metals.

5. Performance & Collaboration

  • Deliver consistent results measured by revenue, specification win rate, customer satisfaction, and pipeline health.
  • Provide timely quotes, proposals, and customer service to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Travel regularly within Texas to meet customers and support projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven Sales Track Record: 3–5+ years of successful outside sales experience in architectural products, building materials, construction products, or related building envelope/interior systems. Demonstrated success selling to architects/designers and General Contractors.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the design-bid-build process, project timelines, and how to influence specifications and win contractor bids.
  • Skills: Strong presentation and consultative selling abilities; technical aptitude (ability to quickly learn product details); relationship-building; negotiation; CRM proficiency; self-motivation and organizational skills.
  • Education & Other: Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture, or related). Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively in Texas.
  • Nice-to-Haves: Experience with metals, railings, curtain walls, or other architectural hardware; existing relationships in the Texas AEC community.

Note: Candidates with strong architectural sales backgrounds in complementary products (e.g., other metals, glass systems, finishes, or building specialties) are encouraged to apply. Comprehensive product and technical training will be provided.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation (base salary + commission)
  • Benefits package (Insurance, 401K, PTO)
  • Autonomy in a high-potential territory with established support
  • Professional development and growth opportunities

This role is perfect for a proactive, results-oriented sales professional who enjoys the mix of technical consulting with architects and transactional closing with contractors.
