Quick Facts Location: UP Health System Portage, Hancock, MI Start Date: 08/14/2026 Shift: 24-hour call coverage, 7 am – 7 am Hours/Week: Variable, based on call schedule Employment Type: Per diem/Contract License/Certifications: Active MI License, MI CDS, MI DEA, ABOS Board Certified Experience: Prior orthopaedic surgery experience preferred Pay & Benefits Hourly Pay Rate: $1.00 Benefits: Competitive pay packages, weekly pay via direct deposit, comprehensive medical benefits (W-2), paid licensure/certifications, travel and lodging reimbursements, robust referral bonus program, paid sick time according to law, 24/7 dedicated support team What You’ll Do Provide orthopedic surgical call coverage including trauma, fractures, sports injuries, and general orthopedics Evaluate and manage emergency patients with musculoskeletal issues Collaborate with the surgical team and orthopaedic PAs Manage documentation and patient records digitally Follow facility protocols for urgent and complicated cases Support the emergency department with specialized orthopaedic consultation when needed What You Need Active Michigan Medical License Valid MI CDS and MI DEA ABOS Board Certification in Orthopaedic Surgery Experience in total joints and general orthopedic procedures Strong communication and teamwork skills About the Assignment Be part of a well-established facility in Hancock, MI, providing high-quality emergency orthopedic care in a friendly community setting.
