Job description

Backend Engineer II (US)

Octopus Energy Engineering builds the services and tariffs used by millions of customers worldwide, from cutting‑edge time‑of‑use tariffs to client‑facing tools for meter readings and more. Your work will join a global backend team that pushes the energy revolution forward.

What you’ll do

You will develop and maintain robust backend systems, collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams across countries, and help deliver innovative energy solutions.

What you’ll need to have...
  • General interest in technology and problem‑solving; diligent and thoughtful.
  • Python
  • Django (or equivalent web framework)
  • Domain modeling
  • GraphQL
  • Writing robust and fault‑tolerant software
  • Celery and async processing
  • Postgres
Bonus experience
  • AWS or other cloud infrastructure experience
  • React/Next.js with TypeScript
