Next Horizon Physical Therapy is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team in Newark, New Jersey. Work Environment

This onsite position is located within a hospital facility that fosters a collaborative atmosphere among healthcare professionals. Our rehabilitation clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and resources, where PTAs work alongside Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. The clinic operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to meet patient and operational needs. We encourage a work-life balance, while also allowing for dynamic interactions with a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting Physical Therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each patient.
  • Guiding patients through a variety of therapeutic exercises and actively participating in their rehabilitation activities, promoting both physical and emotional well-being.
  • Educating patients on proper body mechanics and exercise techniques, ensuring they have a thorough understanding of their home exercise programs.
  • Administering therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient progress regularly, including changes in range of motion, strength, and overall functional abilities.
  • Ensuring treatment areas are clean and organized, ready for effective therapy sessions.
  • Engaging with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care, enhancing collaborative efforts to optimize rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Providing motivation and emotional support to patients, creating a positive environment that encourages recovery.
  • Adhering to ethical practices and guideline standards in patient management, ensuring confidentiality and respect for all patient rights.
Patient Population / Client Focus

At Next Horizon Physical Therapy, we serve a varied patient population including post-operative patients, individuals with chronic conditions, athletes, children, and elderly patients. Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • An Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • A valid state certification or license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

  • Competence in executing therapeutic exercises and modalities under PT supervision.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively interact with patients and support staff.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, experience in the rehabilitation field, particularly in a hospital setting or with diverse patient demographics, will be beneficial. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and experience with various therapeutic modalities will also be advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits
