Duties Description Position Information: The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets has several exciting opportunities to work at the Great New York State Fair. We are looking for temporary employees to join the Maintenance Department and help prepare for the 2026 State Fair. These positions will perform various manual tasks throughout the fairgrounds that support State Fair operations from May 2026 to September 2026.

Your duties may involve light, medium, or heavy physical labor related to maintenance, grounds, labor, parking services, custodial duties, and/or operating motor vehicles and equipment. If you are required to operate motor vehicles, you must hold a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type. Our available positions are at the New York State Fairgrounds at 581 State Fair Boulevard, Syracuse, NY.

Additional Comments Benefits: These are CSEA-represented positions offering inexpensive health insurance options, free dental and vision coverage, NYS Pension Plan membership. As a New York State employee, you could potentially qualify to participate in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your direct loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under an accepted repayment plan and while working full-time for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets or another eligible employer.
